Three Ways to Get Comfortable With Your Retirement Records

Each Nestwell session is designed for a different stage of engagement — from reading your first statement to staying informed across the years. All are education, not advice.

Our Method

How Every Nestwell Session Is Structured

Orient

We start by laying out what the session covers and, equally important, what it does not. Participants know the scope from minute one.

Work Through

Section by section, term by term. We use sample documents and printed materials, with questions welcomed throughout rather than held to the end.

Take Away

Every participant leaves with printed reference materials and, for relevant sessions, a planner or record-keeping tool to use going forward.

Statement Basics Workshop

An unhurried two-and-a-half-hour session working through the typical sections of pension and retirement savings statements. The objective is straightforward: by the end, participants can open a statement and navigate it without a rising sense of confusion. We cover the summary page, contribution history tables, projected figures, and the meaning of standard disclaimer sections.

  • Covers common statement formats from UK, Australian, and US schemes
  • Plain-English glossary handout included
  • Q&A space throughout — general questions only
  • Maximum 12 participants
WHAT HAPPENS
01Scope overview — what the session covers and does not cover
02Statement anatomy — reading the summary page section by section
03Key terms — working through the glossary with examples
04General Q&A and close — where to go next with personal questions

Session 02

Planner & Records Pack

A hands-on three-hour setup session. Participants leave with a complete printable planner and a labelled filing structure for their retirement paperwork. The session walks through each component of the system — what goes where, how to label folders, how to note update dates, and how to keep the planner current over time.

  • Full printable planner pack included in fee
  • Labelled folder structure guide for physical and digital files
  • Checklist of documents worth retaining and for how long
  • Not advice — an organising tool you configure yourself
WHAT HAPPENS
01Introduction to the planner structure and why it is designed as it is
02Setting up physical and/or digital folder labels together
03Walking through the planner pages — what each section is for
04Personalising and completing the first entry with facilitator guidance

Quarterly Information Membership

An annual membership that runs as four seasonal sessions, a continuously updated resource library, and a monitored members' discussion space. The discussion space is for general educational exchange, not personal guidance.

  • Four sessions per year, one each season
  • Access to the Nestwell resource library — updated as documents change
  • Members' discussion space for general questions
  • Session topics announced in advance each quarter

Our Standards

What Every Session Is Built On

Clear Scope, Every Time

Every session opens with a plain statement of what the workshop covers and where our remit ends. Participants are never left unsure about the nature of what they are receiving.

Personal Data Not Shared in Groups

Participants are never asked to share actual figures or personal details in a group setting. All worked examples use anonymised samples.

Quarterly Content Review

Session materials and example documents are reviewed every three months to reflect current statement formats and terminology.

Participant Feedback Used

Written feedback is collected after every session. Results shape the next session's pace, focus areas, and clarity of explanation.

Directed Onward Appropriately

When a question falls outside educational scope, participants are directed clearly toward the right official body or professional category — not left without guidance.

No Commission, No Referral Income

Nestwell has no financial relationship with any pension provider, financial adviser, or insurance company. Session fees are the only income source.
